UP Government to Roll Out New Building and Construction By-laws by May 30



  • The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to implement the new Building Construction and Development By-laws, 2025 by May 30, with a final draft expected to be presented before the state Cabinet in the coming days. The move aims to simplify construction processes and promote ease of doing business across the state, both in urban and rural areas.

    The comprehensive proposal, developed by the Housing and Urban Planning Department, introduces several reforms designed to reduce bureaucratic hurdles, streamline approvals, and encourage development activity. According to officials, one of the most impactful provisions is the elimination of the requirement for an approved building map for residential plots up to 1,000 square feet. Instead, an architect’s certificate will now be sufficient for residential plots up to 5,000 sq ft and commercial plots up to 2,000 sq ft.
