The shortlist for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2024 has been revealed, featuring six athletes who have made significant impacts this year. The contenders are:
Jude Bellingham (Football)
Keely Hodgkinson (Athletics)
Luke Littler (Darts)
Joe Root (Cricket)
Dame Sarah Storey (Para-cycling)
Alex Yee (Triathlon)
The announcement was made by Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, who praised the shortlist, saying, "It’s a fantastic shortlist. All six of them have kept us on the edge of our seats this year, showing us how sensational they are."
The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite athlete during the live broadcast of the ceremony on Tuesday, 17 December, which will be presented by Gabby Logan, Alex Scott, and Clare Balding
